It turned out to be/Was a total disaster/A complete flop, costing me both time and money.

Another mistake was letting pride/holding onto ego/refusing to admit fault when I was clearly wrong/obviously mistaken/dead set on a bad course. I stubbornly stuck/Refused to budge/Pushed forward even when everyone else could see/despite clear evidence/it was becoming painfully obvious that I was making things worse/needed to change course/had gone astray. This led to a lot of tension/caused unnecessary conflict/created a real mess, and in the end, it really hurt/I ended up losing/Things didn't go well at all.

It's easy/so common/human nature to make mistakes, but the most important thing is to learn from them. We can use them as stepping stones/Let's turn them into valuable lessons/Hopefully, they'll help us grow and make better decisions in the future/navigate life with more wisdom/avoid repeating those same errors.
